Amsterdam Exchanges Goes For Gold - Change To Contract Specifications For Gold Options
Date 12/01/2000
Amsterdam Exchanges will introduce new-style gold options on 20 March 2000. The contract specifications for these new gold options will change in a number of ways from those for existing gold options. The new options will be European style, which means that they cannot be exercised before their expiration date. Moreover, the new gold options will not be delivery contracts but cash settlement contracts. In addition, the six-month series of the new gold options will be introduced in the March cycle. This is the same cycle as used for options on other underlying values used internationally, such as the dollar and European indices.
The new gold options will have the trading symbol GD. No new series will be introduced in the old-style gold option class as from the May expiration, and this class will cease to exist after the August 2000 expiration.
