The American Stock Exchange (Amex) announced today that it will launch trading of 12 additional Nasdaq securities.

The Amex began trading nine Nasdaq securities on August 12, following approval from Securities and Exchange Commission to trade Nasdaq securities under unlisted trading privileges. The Amex will continue to gradually roll out additional securities over the next several weeks. By mid-October, the Amex plans to be trading 120 of the most actively traded Nasdaq stocks from the Nasdaq-100 Index and S&P 500 Index. The 12 additional Nasdaq securities trading at the Amex starting today include:

Dell Computer Corporation (DELL), Siebel Systems, Inc. (SEBL), NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA), Sanmina-SCI Corporation (SANM), RF Micro Devices, Inc. (RFMD), Adobe Systems Incorporated (ADBE), Starbucks Corporation (SBUX), VeriSign, Inc. (VRSN), Citrix Systems, Inc. (CTXS), Compuware Corporation (CPWR), Andrew Corporation (ANDW) and T. Rowe Price Group, Inc. (TROW).

"The Amex is providing, for the first time, a meaningful auction market environment with real opportunities for price improvement in Nasdaq securities," said senior vice president of Amex business strategy Brett Redfearn. "We have some of Wall Street's most prominent and deeply capitalized specialists firms now specializing in some of Nasdaq's biggest and most active names. These specialist firms are putting up significantly sized quotes and executing orders at one price - enabling investors to get the best possible price and realize greater liquidity on the Amex."
