Fossett's determination to balloon single-handedly non-stop around the world is an act of resiliency and faith. His adventurous personality has led him to make several attempts to balloon around the world, as well as swim across the English Channel and compete in the 24 hour Le Mans Car race, among other endurance-enhancing activities.
Fossett is President of Larkspur Securities Inc., an investment company. In addition to being an Amex seat owner, he is also a Trustee of Washington University and serves on the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and the Explorers Club.
