American Stock Exchange Appoints Phillip Frost, M.D., And James R. Hyde As Co-Vice Chairmen And Jack R. Borsting As Lead Governor

The American Stock Exchange (Amex) announced today that the Amex Board of Governors voted to appoint Board Governors Phillip Frost, M.D., and James R. Hyde, as Co-Vice Chairmen of the American Stock Exchange and Jack R. Borsting as Lead Governor.

Dr. Frost is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IVAX Corporation, an American Stock Exchange listed company. He served on the American Stock Exchange, Inc. Board of Governors from 1992 until the close of the NASD-Amex Transaction at which time he was appointed to the Board of American Stock Exchange LLC. Dr. Frost was also the Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, Mount Sinai Medical Center of Greater Miami from 1972 to 1990; Chairman of Key Pharmaceuticals from 1972 to 1986; and is Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He served as Lieutenant Commander, U.S. Public Health Service at the National Cancer Institute, in Bethesda, Maryland from 1963 to 1965. Dr. Frost attended the University of Paris from 1955 to 1956, received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1957 and an M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1961.

Mr. Hyde is Managing Director of Kellogg Capital Group, LLC, a privately held firm. Since joining Kellogg in 2004, Mr. Hyde has helped Kellogg become one of the Amex's top-tier Option Specialists books. In addition, Kellogg, as an institution, has continued the company's previous commitment as a specialist in Equities and Exchange Traded Funds and its two-dollar brokerage operations. Mr. Hyde also designed a front-end proprietary technology trading platform that utilized his 15 years of floor trading experience. He has been on the Amex Board since January 2003 and he is a Director of The Amex Membership Corporation, which negotiated the transaction transferring control of the American Stock Exchange back to the members.

Dr. Borsting is Professor of Business Administration and Dean Emeritus, Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California (USC). From 1994 to September 2001, he served as the Executive Director of the Center for Telecommunications Management at USC, as well as the Morgan Stanley Professor of Business Administration. From 1988 to 1994, Dr. Borsting was Dean of USC's School of Business Administration and Robert Dockson Professor of Business Administration. Previously, Dr. Borsting was Assistant Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) for the United States Department of Defense, appointed by Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. The United States Department of Defense has twice awarded Dr. Borsting its Medal for Distinguished Public Service.
