Altera Finance – A New WSE IPO Partner

Date 28/11/2006

Altera Finance from Ukraine is the second entity, with whom the Warsaw Stock Exchange signed agreement in the WSE IPO Partner programme aimed at attracting foreign companies to the Polish stock market. The agreement has been signed earlier today.

Altera Finance (AF) started its activity in 2000. It currently provides a range of financial services including asset management, corporate finance, investment, and banking, as well as brokerage and research activities. The Group is amongst the top 10 financial services providers in Ukraine.

Tatyana Konstantinova, Vice-President of Altera Finance said: „We always try to anticipate and meet clients’ needs. Now we are analysing the possibilities for Ukrainian companies IPOs on several European markets, including Warsaw. That is why ALTERA FINANCE is looking to establish cooperation with new European partners, which in turn will translate into new business opportunities”.

Main clients of the Group are mid-size industrial companies (steel, coal, chemical), as well as financial institutions and other businesses (representing food, construction, television and IT sectors). The company has a representative office in Donetsk.

As the Ukrainian economy is one of the fastest growing economies in Europe, the clients of Altera Finance are in great need of capital to tap new market segments and reduce costs via investments in new technologies and equipment. Just for such companies the Warsaw Stock Exchange is an excellent place for raising capital effectively, i.e. at a low cost. Such the opportunity has been already used by one Ukrainian company ASTARTA, which raised PLN 95 million for its investments – Ludwik Sobolewski, the WSE President said.

The WSE IPO Partner programme has been designed to foster promotional activities on foreign markets via the WSE partners – foreign brokerage houses. The Warsaw Stock Exchange intends to sign such agreements with entities conducting brokerage business or investment services related activities to attract more foreign issuers.

The agreement allows, the WSE Partner to use a special logo of the authorized WSE IPO partner.

The first company which signed such agreement with the WSE was the Ukrainian brokerage house E-Volution Capital from Kiev.

Today’s second agreement, gaining WSE another partner from Ukraine, is a result of active promotional action undertaken by the WSE in the last months in that country. It also indicates the interest of the Ukrainian businesses in the Polish market.
