Aeroflot Right On Course To NEWEX (New Europe Exchange) - Aeroflot Stocks To Be Traded For The First Time On An International Exchange

The 2nd of April will be the first day of trading of the stocks of the Russian airline Aeroflot in the quality segment NX.plus of NEWEX (New Europe Exchange). The formal resolution to include the stocks in trading in Vienna was passed on 13 March 2001. This is Aeroflot's first appearance on an international stock market. Up to now, the Russian airline was listed only in Moscow (RTS). "Trading on the international exchange NEWEX gives Aeroflot access to a broad range of investors focusing on Central and Eastern Europe", said Dr. Dimitry M. Amunts, Deputy General Director Strategy & Corporate Development at Aeroflot.

Aeroflot was founded in 1923. Today it is the largest airline in Russia, which according to the company, holds a market share of approximately one-quarter and operates flights to a total of 125 destinations in 70 countries. The company employs over 15,000 employees. In 2000, Aeroflot transported 5.1 million passengers and 107.5 thousand tonnes of freight. In 2003, Aeroflot hopes to become a full member of the Sky Team alliance founded by Air France (further information on Aeroflot and a description of the business year 2000 are available at www.newex.com).

A share of 51% of the company are state owned , 34% are held by international and Russian institutional investors, 15% are owned by employees. The total market capitalization of Aeroflot is approximately USD 300 million. The 20% securitized in the form of Global Depository Receipts (GDRs) will be traded in NX.plus, the dual listing segment of NEWEX, in the Unregulated Market pursuant to Art. 69 Stock Exchange Act . The listing requirements of the Stock Exchange Act applicable to issuers of stocks on the Official Market or Semi-official Market do not apply to the Unregulated Market.. Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich AG will act as the liquidity provider, i.e. as a market maker with special obligations for Aeroflot stocks.

This will add a further blue chip stock to the mix of attractive companies in the quality segment NX.plus.
