Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) has participated in the 6th Annual UAE Global Investment Forum organized by Department of Planning and Economy – Abu Dhabi and Institutional Investor Conferences which took place at the Rosewood Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
The forum provides a platform for the leaders of the UAE’s businesses to meet and discuss how best to use the capital markets for their investment and financing needs. The forum also discusses the shifting of economic balance toward emerging markets, opportunities for investments, potential political changes in the Middle East, and how the UAE can capitalize on investor appetite.
ADX CEO, Mr. Rashed Al Baloushi, partaking in a panel discussion on the Impact of Emerging Market Status for the UAE, spoke of the MSCI upgrade of the UAE to emerging market status, and the changes in the economy that enabled this upgrade to happen. He also highlighted the implications of the upgrade and the expected significant flows of capital into the UAE from institutional investors around the world and how the emerging market status would impact the decision making process of companies looking to IPO in the local markets.
