In support of its efforts to enhance financial awareness, Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) recently organised in cooperation with the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) a lecture on "The concepts of how financial markets work" for a delegation consisting of 75 police officers from Abu Dhabi Police College at ADX headquarters.
The lecture, delivered by Dr. Hassan Yassin, Advisor to ADX Media department, explained investment mechanisms in stocks and securities, the general principles of equity investment, and the nature of the relationship between the exchange and member securities firms and listed companies. Dr. Yassin also explained in detail the emergence of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange since its inception in November of the year 2000, and the functions performed by the Exchange as well as the goals it seeks to achieve. Dr. Yassin also spoke in detail about the important role ADX plays in strengthening the concepts of disclosure and transparency and strengthening the legislative, legal, and technical aspects of the securities sector.
In this regard, Mr. Rashed Al Balooshi, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, said:” ADX understands the importance of social responsibility, and acknowledges the role it has towards its community and attaches special importance to it as part of the overall exchange’s initiatives aimed towards spreading financial literacy in the UAE society.
