ADX In Final Stage Of Regulatory Process

Date 14/11/2000

The Australian Derivatives Exchange (ADX) today reconfirmed that it remains confident that ADX will be able to open within weeks and that a firm launch date will be specified as soon as possible.

ADX is in close consultation with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) about a number of outstanding regulatory issues.

ASIC has communicated to ADX the importance of the task of providing advice to the Minister on a proposal for a new futures exchange, and that the maintenance of market integrity and overall confidence in our markets is a priority issue in the approval process.

“We understand that ASIC needs to complete its review process before we can provide a firm date for our launch,” ADX managing director, Mr John Herron said.

“We believe that we are in the final stage of satisfying the full complement of the information and documentation ASIC needs to complete its assessment of ADX's market application.

“ASIC has communicated to us what we need to provide them with in order to satisfy their remaining issues. It is now up to ADX to do so. We will be providing our responses to ASIC in the coming days.”
