ACER Is Excited To Be Part Of EU Sustainable Energy Week 2023

Date 30/05/2023

During EU Sustainable Energy Week 2023, ACER will co-host two policy conferences:

Session on empowering and protecting energy consumers in the crisis and beyond, 21 June, 14:30 - 16:00 CET

ACER together with the Florence School of Regulators (FSR) and the International Union of Tenants (IUT) will co-host a Policy Conference during EU Sustainable Energy Week on empowering and protecting energy consumers in crisis and beyond.

With spiralling energy prices, many customers across Europe experienced energy hardship and vulnerability. Member States introduced a range of different measures. Some measures were targeted, others were not. EU policy makers are now also considering longer-term electricity market design reforms to support EU energy goals.

The Policy Conference will discuss the short- and long-term measures designed to include vulnerable consumers in the common effort to decarbonise the EU energy system.

Session on efficient electricity grids, 22 June, 09:30 - 11:00 CET

ACER, together with ENTSO-E, RGI, Wind Europe, WATT and CurrENT, will co-host a Policy Conference during EU Sustainable Energy Week on the efficient electricity grids: the key to accelerating the deployment of renewable energy.

In the current energy crisis, fast action is needed more than ever to ensure energy affordability, energy security, reduce grid congestion, and scale up renewables more quickly. This calls for Transmission System Operators (TSOs) adequately supported by regulation, to accelerate the development and integration of innovative solutions into the electrical transmission grids and to develop bold, agile strategies together with policymakers and stakeholders that address the urgent challenges associated with the Fit-for-55 and REPowerEU objectives.

The Policy Conference will discuss what measures are needed to rapidly future-proof the electricity infrastructure in a sustainable way.
