The ACER Administrative Board and the Energy Community Secretariat held a joint meeting in Vienna on 7 October. The meeting took place back-to-back to the 50th meeting of the ACER Administrative Board.
Opening the meeting, Janez Kopač, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, said: “ACER and the Energy Community have a long history of successfully working together. Today’s meeting testifies to the commitment that our two institutions have to support the creation of a pan-European energy market that empowers and protects energy consumers. At the same time, we will do what it takes to support the transition away from fossil fuels towards a clean energy future.”
Jochen Penker, Chairman ACER Administrative Board, added: "And we can lead by example by introducing greening action plans with the aim to reduce the carbon footprint of our organisations. I am glad that today’s meeting also provides an opportunity for exchanging views and best practices on their respective sustainability strategies and actions.”
The meeting served to outline the ACER Administrative Board’s mandate and mission and introduce the Energy Community, including the Energy Community Regulatory Board, to the Board members. The legal basis and formats of cooperation between ACER and the Energy Community Secretariat were also discussed.
The meeting concluded with presentations by the Secretariat’s Director Kopač on its environmental management tools and by ACER Director, Christian Zinglersen, on the Agency’s Greening Action Plan.
