The event, which is jointly organized by several international financial markets, aims to emphasize the role of financial knowledge in enhancing the financial stability of individuals. This contributes towards enhancing communications and providing more services to investors, and identifies initiatives taken to develop investment awareness. An example of these initiatives is the specialized workshops organized by ADX, which is aimed at raising the awareness of citizens and residents in the UAE, teaching them the culture of saving and investing in the stock exchange market sector, and safeguarding their rights.

Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi CEO of SCA, mentioned that the World Investor Week 2019 has a number of activities and partnerships launched by the Authority in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), Dubai Financial Market (DFM), and the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX), in response to the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
He added that the activities of the week included a programme full of diverse activities directed to various social and professional groups and segments, in order to develop awareness among investors and enhance their investment culture so that they can maintain safe investing while knowing their rights. The initiative also urged to open new channels of communication with investors and use social media networks to provide investor-focused services. The event also included different activities such as investor awareness competitions, workshops, and seminars happening at the same time with other events taking place in over 80 financial markets around the world.
H.E. Dr. Al Zaabi also pointed out that the Authority's activities in the World Investor Week this year include holding open meetings by himself and different managers of departments. Meetings were also held with investors in each financial market, in order understand their views and provide an opportunity to respond to their enquiries. The aim was to also inform the largest number of interested individuals of the rules and regulations in the market. The Authority has also recently launched the “National Project for Investment Awareness and Financial Inclusion”, to inform investors of the key role played by financial markets in financing the economy. Moreover, the authority focused on investor rights as a crucial aspect of its 2017-2022 strategic plan.
Commenting on this, H.E. Khalifa Salem Al Mansouri, ADX Chief Executive said: “Investor education has great value in leading to the expansion and growth of financial markets, as informed investors can invest with confidence. ADX has demonstrated its abilities in providing a high standard of information to potential investors. As a result, the Exchange is increasingly becoming recognized as an influential and leading economic platform in the UAE and the MENA region.”
H.E. Khalifa Al Mansouri pointed out the importance of this event by saying: “The World Investor Week 2019 reflects the success of the International Organization of Securities Commissions in contributing to the protection of investors globally, and their confidence in the safety of securities markets. These initiatives are in line with ADX's aims, which are focusing on enhancing the financial knowledge of individuals and raising their awareness of the performance of financial markets, in addition to educating and protecting investors.”
With the World Investor Week providing an appropriate platform for ADX to provide investors with more channels of cooperation, and in coordination with the Authority, ADX is organizing a range of activities focused on investor-focused information and services. This aims to raise the awareness of investors and enhance the financial knowledge of individuals.
