A Very Good Month For EURO.NM Amsterdam

April proved to be yet another good month on Amsterdam Exchanges' markets. Turnover on the stock exchange saw a marked increase of 53.8% in comparison to April 1999. In the case of EURO.NM Amsterdam, the increase was more than 200%. Value of turnover in this market segment, which amounted to Euro 1.35 billion, was four times higher during the first four months of 2000 than during the same period last year.

Premium turnover from options and futures on Amsterdam Exchanges' options market rose in April by 26.8% compared to April 1999.Premium turnover from share options for the first four months of 2000 exceeded Euro 17 billion, 50% more than during the same period last year.

In particular, prices in the IT sector showed continuing growth. The Amsterdam Informatie Technologie Sector Index (AISX) has risen by 115.9% in the course of a year. The same trend was also visible at European level, with the FTSE Eurotop Information Technology Sector Index (FISX) almost tripling in value in comparison to last year.
