a/c/e Breaks Daily Volume Record Second Day In A Row

The Chicago Board of Trade announced today that its members set a new daily volume record yesterday at 442,491 contracts traded on its electronic trading platform, a/c/eSM, breaking the former record of 334,551 contracts set the preceding day, August 28, 2001. The CBOT® traded a total of 1,876,381 contracts yesterday, of which 1,433,890 were traded in the open outcry marketplace.

In addition, the CBOT® Financial complex set new a/c/eSM daily volume records yesterday, with the 30-Year Treasury Bond trading 161,046 contracts, and the 10-Year Note trading 199,097, breaking the former 30-Year Treasury Bond record of 153,033 contracts set on June 28, 2001, and the 10-Year Note record of 158,542 contracts set on August 28, 2001. The 5-Year Note also set a new record at 70,499 contracts traded, breaking its former high of 50,901 set on July 26, 2001.

Yesterday's record day brought a/c/eSM year-to-date volume to 29,869,633 with the CBOT® 30-Year Treasury Bond averaging a daily volume of 81,620 contracts, the 10-Year Note averaging a daily volume of 68,960 contracts, and the 5-Year Note averaging a daily volume of 23,432 contracts.

The year-to-date volume at the CBOT® is 166,385,625, up nearly 4% from last year.
