As many as 78 listed companies, with a combined market capitalization of over THB1.5 trillion (approx. USD50 billion) will join The Stock Exchange of Thailand’s (SET) Opportunity Days for Q3/2010 inform investors about the firms. This activity, which will start November 10- December 2, will include 73 firms providing live webcasts via www.set.or.th/oppday and www.settrade.com/oppday, plus trial transmissions via iPhones, iPads, BlackBerries and Android-driven smartphones, using 3G, WiFi or EDGE.
“SET has increased its channels for listed companies to present information to investors, analysts, the media and other interested persons through Live Opportunity Day Webcasts, which have received great attention from investors. There have been over 50,000 domestic and foreign viewers since this service started in Q4/2008. Countries with the most viewers have been Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and the United States
In Q3/2010, 65 companies on SET and 13 on the Market for Alternative Investment (mai) participated in Opportunity Days. Of these, 13 were in the SET50: Advanced Info Service PCL (ADVANC), The Bangchak Petroleum PCL (BCP), Central Pattana PCL (CPN), Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL (DELTA), Total Access Communication PCL (DTAC), Glow Energy PCL (GLOW), Indorama Ventures PCL (IVL), Minor International PCL (MINT), Precious Shipping PCL (PSL), Thai Oil PCL (TOP), Thai Tap Water Supply PCL (TTW), True Corporation PCL (TRUE). Companies joining the activity for the first time this season are CH. Karnchang PCL (CK), Thai Oil PCL (TOP), and True Corporation PCL (TRUE). In 2010, 150 listed firms, with combined market capitalization of THB2.3 trillion (approx. USD76.67 billion) joined the activity -- the highest number of companies since Opportunity Day started.
On November 18-19, the SET will present Opportunity Days in “SET in the City 2010” at Siam Paragon Convention Hall, 5/f, Bangkok, and provide Live Opportunity Day Webcasts from the SET booth. The SET will also give a free book, SET Stock Focus: STEEL, for an in-depth view of firms in this new sector, which is under the Industrials Group. This book will benefit analysts and others involved in investment decision-making. The SET will move 27 companies into the sector, starting from January 4, 2011.
