439 Billion EURO In Turnover On The German Stock Exchanges - Exchange Traded Funds Post 83 Million Euros In Turnover In First Month - Xetra: 88 percent share Of DAX turnover

A total of 438.8 billion EURO in volume was traded in equities, warrants and fixed-income securities on the German stock exchanges in April, about 4 percent higher than in April one year ago. The total comprises 331.5 billion euros in equities and warrants and 107.3 billion euros in fixed-income securities. Trading at FWB, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, accounted for about 85 percent of the total.

The order-book statistics of Deutsche Börse, which are based on single counting of all transactions in the order book of Xetra® and the trading floor, show equities turnover of 118 billion EURO for all German stock exchanges in April. Of this total, volume of 79.6 billion euros was traded in German equities, with 62.3 billion EURO (about 78 percent) posted through Xetra, and 12.7 billion EURO (about 16 percent) in trading on the floor of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Trading on Xetra accounted for 88 percent of the turnover in DAX blue chips.

SAP was the most active DAX blue chip in April, with volume of about 9.2 billion EURO traded in its shares. MLP was the leading MDAX stock., with 210.7 million EURO in shares traded, and Intershop was the top Neuer Markt stock, at 1.2 billion EURO. In the SMAX segment, OAR Consulting ranked first with a volume of 98.1 million EURO traded in its shares.

The new XTF segment for exchange-traded index fund got off to a good start in April: The order-book turnover came to about 83 million euros in the 12 trading days since the launch on April 11; 94 percent of this volume was traded through Xetra.
