The order-book statistics of Deutsche Börse, which are based on single counting of all transactions in the order book of Xetra and on the trading floor, show that a total volume of 100.5 billion euros was traded in equities on the German exchanges in October. Of this total, volume of 87.1 billion euros was traded in German equities, 74 billion euros (roughly 85 percent) through Xetra, and some 9.6 billion euros (or 11 percent) in trading on the floor of FWB. Xetra set a new record in the MDAX stocks for the fifth month in a row, with 62.8 percent of the total turnover in these equities. Xetra is also posting an increasing share of the volume traded in the growth stocks and the SMAX (small-cap quality) segment : about 65 percent of all Nemax-50 turnover and 28.5 percent of all SDAX turnover in October were posted through Xetra.
Siemens AG was the most active DAX blue chip in October with volume of 11.1 billion euros traded in its shares. MLP was the leading MDAX stock, with 280 million euros in shares traded, and Intershop was the top Neuer Markt stock with share turnover of 2.14 billion euros. In the SMAX stocks, OAR Consulting AG ranked first with a volume of 34.1 million euros traded in its shares.
