2012 EEX Exchange Council Election

Following the end of the Exchange Council’s term of office of three years, the trading participants of the European Energy Exchange (EEX) elected a new Exchange Council in accordance with the applicable schedule on 30 May 2012. The Exchange Council represents the interest of the trading participants and is involved in all essential decisions of the exchange. It has in total 24 members of whom 19 are elected directly by the trading participants. The participants vote in different election categories in order to adequately represent the different interests on the Council. The election was carried out via postal vote and resulted in the following new composition in the five groups.

The group of interconnected utilities and trading companies is represented by:

Nicolas Barbannaud (EDF Trading Limited),
Paul Dawson (RWE Supply & Trading GmbH),
Mag. Werner Fleischer (VERBUND AG),
Pierre Guesry (Alpiq AG),
Peter Heydecker (Vitol S.A.),
Andrea Vittorio Siri (Edison Trading S.p.A.),
Dr. Bernhard Walter (EnBW Trading GmbH),
Lars Wlecke (E.ON Energy Trading SE)
and Leonardo Zannella (Enel Trade S.p.A.).

The group of municipal and regional suppliers is represented by:

Ralf Henze (Stadtwerke Hannover AG),
Raimund Otto (Stadtwerke Leipzig GmbH)
and Dr. Michael Redanz (MVV Trading GmbH).

The group of banks and financial service providers is represented by:

Dr. Wolf B. von Bernuth (Energy & More Energiebroker GmbH & Co. KG),
Paul Goodhew (UBS AG),
Namesh Hansjee (Merrill Lynch Commodities (Europe) Ltd.),
Brieuc Raskin (Morgan Stanley & Co. International plc)
and Christophe Solere (Susquehanna Ireland Ltd.).

Vincent van Lith (Deutsche Bank AG) was elected as the representative of the group of the members of the EEX clearing house. Pierre Chevalier (DB Energie GmbH) represents the group of commercial consumers.

In addition to the trading participants of the exchange, four associations delegate one representative each to this board:

Dr. Jan Haizmann (EFET–European Federation of Energy Traders),
Dr. Christoph Jansen (BDI–Federation of German Industry),
Dr. Peter Sentker (VIK–German Association of the Energy and Power Supply Industry)
and Dr. Anke Tuschek (BDEW–German Association of Energy and Water Industries).

In his capacity as the acting chairman of the Exchange Council, Dr. Günther Rabensteiner wishes to thank those members who will leave the Council – Phil Atkinson (ICAP Energy AS), Sven Becker (Trianel GmbH), Marc Ehry (Nexus EnergieGmbH), Wilfried Köplin (BDI – Federation of German Industry), Ante Pogacic (Deutsche Bank AG), Charles Rankin (Morgan Stanley & Co. International plc), Edgar Röck (TIWAG – Tiroler Wasserkraft AG), Kai Seela (Vattenfall Energy Trading GmbH) and Dr. Hans-Joachim Ziesing (Federation of German Consumer Organisations) – for the constructive and trusting cooperation on behalf of the Exchange Council.

The constitutive meeting of the Exchange Council, in which the chairman, the deputy chairmen and the energy science representative will be elected, will be held in Leipzigon 20 June 2012.

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) is the leading energy exchange in Europe. It develops, operates and connects secure, liquid and transparent markets for energy and related products on which power, natural gas, CO2 emission allowances and coal are traded. Clearing and settlement of all trading transactions are provided by the clearing house European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC).
