110 Firms Meet Investors In Thai Bourse’s “Opportunity Days”

Date 02/08/2011

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will hold its quarterly “Opportunity Days”, where top managements of listed companies meet directly with analysts and investors, on August 8-September 8. This quarter will see an all-time high of 110 firms, with a combined THB 2.46 trillion (approx. USD 82 billion) market capitalization, participate in the event.

“Opportunity Days have continuously attracted more and more listed firms, proving the success of the program. This quarter’s record high number of participants reflects the companies’ strong confidence in their first-half performance, due to be announced by the middle of August,” said SET Group Head Issuer & Listing Chanitr Charnchainarong.

This quarter’s event, which facilitates investor relations activities of the listed companies, will include The Bangchak Petroleum Pcl (BCP) and Siam Future Development PCL (SF), both of which were just added to the SET50 and SET100 indices for the second half of this year, as well as three new listed firms: Khonburi Sugar Pcl (KBS), QTC Energy Pcl (QTC) and Salee Colour Pcl (COLOR).

One-third of the participants have joined the event regularly since last year, while seven firms are joining for the first time, Chanitr added.

An Opportunity Day makes it convenient for analysts, investors, and the media to find out about the business and operations of listed companies – and for listed firms to communicate with these key audiences. The SET schedules such events after every periodic disclosure of financial statements.

The event will provide live broadcasts for both domestic and foreign investors through Webcasts (www.set.or.th/oppday and www.settrade.com/oppday ) and other channels, such as iPhones, iPods, iPads, Blackberries and Android devices. Viewers are also able to watch past events, download related documents, and send questions to presenting companies directly through any of the above-mentioned websites. The event currently attracts about 100,000 audiences from 82 countries.
