  • CME Group Extends Incentive Program For New Traders

    CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, announced that it will further support the development of new traders globally by expanding and renaming its Emerging Market Incentive Program . The New Trader Incentive Program will replace the Emerging Market Incentive Program, effective May 1, 2011, and will be extended to April 30, 2012.

  • MGEX Reports Top 10 Electronic Volume Day - Top 12 Total Exchange Volume Day

    MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), today announced estimated electronic trading of its flagship Hard Red Spring Wheat (HRSW) contract reached 12,743 contracts, making it the tenth highest daily electronic trading volume in Exchange history.  Total MGEX futures and options volume was an estimated 17,809, or a top 12 total volume day.  Of that total, HRSW options trading accounted for an estimated 4,623 contracts.

  • Industry Commentary - Dow Jones Islamic Market Indexes In April: Growth Is Beautiful - Or Is It? - By Gerard Al-Fil

    A number of Dow Jones Islamic Market (DJIM) Indexes posted gains in April.  After diving 10.17% in the first quarter of 2011, the DJIM Kuwait Index rebounded, registering a gain of 7.04% to 963.52 (as of the close of trading on April 26). In a nation with nearly 95% of its federal budget is tied to oil revenues, rising oil prices drove the Gulf state’s stock market higher. The resignation of Kuwait’s old and unpopular cabinet also helped. Kuwait was followed (on a percentage basis) by the DJIM Hong Kong Index, up 6.50% to 1,655.53; and the DJIM Philippines Index, up 5.90% to 1,855.26.

  • Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

    Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Thursday, April 28, 2011:

    • The shareholders of Continental Minerals Corporation (TSXVN:KMK) have approved the Plan of Arrangement whereby the shares of the company will be acquired by Jinchuan Group Ltd. for $CDN2.60 cash per share. Continental Minerals will be removed from the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of Thursday, April 28, 2011.
    • The shareholders of UNX Energy Corp. (TSXVN:UNX) have accepted the Offer to Purchase from HRT Participacoes em Petroleo S.A. UNX Energy will be removed from the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of Thursday, April 28, 2011.
