Jonathan S. Sokobin Named Acting Director Of The SEC's Division Of Risk, Strategy And Financial Innovation
Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary L. Schapiro today named Jonathan S. Sokobin as Acting Director of the SEC's Division of Risk, Strategy, and Financial Innovation (Risk Fin), replacing Henry T.C. Hu who left the agency this week.

Announcement Of Transitional Measure: EU ETS Registry System
As of 19 January 2011, 19:00 Central European Time, the European Commission will suspend transactions, except for allocation and surrender of allowances, in all EU ETS registries at least until 26 January 2011, 19:00 Central European Time. Nomura Names Piero Novelli Global Co-Head Of M&A
Nomura, the global investment bank, today announced that Piero Novelli will join the firm as a Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), partnering with Kentaro Okuda, Global Co-Head of M&A who is based in Japan. Novelli will become a member of the Investment Banking Executive Committee and will report to William Vereker and Hiroyuki Suzuki, joint Heads of Investment Banking, who are based in London and Tokyo, respectively.

Euroclear Sweden To Automate Fund-Transaction Processing
Euroclear Sweden announces today the launch of its inaugural service to automate and standardise fund-transaction processing. Fund management firms, fund distributors and transfer agents in Sweden may now benefit from automated fund-transaction order routing between relevant parties and settlement of the cash-related part of the transaction on a straight-through processing basis at Euroclear Sweden.

EEX Not Affected By Unauthorised Account Access To Emissions Trading - Trading And EUA Primary Market Auction At EEX Continues
The structures and processes of the European Energy Exchange (EEX) and the clearing subsidiary European Commodity Clearing (ECC) have proven again reliable and secure despite recent hacking attacks on diverse national emissions trading registries. The EU Commission has suspended all national and international transactions for all European EUA registries for safety reasons until 26 January 2011, 19:00 CET earliest.
