nyse.com To Go Real-Time -- Live Market Data Will Support New Products In Network NYSE

Date 19/07/2000

The New York Stock Exchange, which pioneered the dissemination of real-time market data on television, plans to create later this summer a new investor center on its Web site that will include real-time data to support a number of new products.

The announcement is the first by a U.S. equities exchange of plans to offer real-time data free to investors. Through nyse.com, investors will be able to customize their own streaming "ticker" of live prices. The site's existing "your portfolio" feature will be upgraded to offer real-time instead of 20-minute-delayed data, and the portfolios will be dynamically updated.

The real-time data also will support new products that will be delivered via nyse.com as part of Network NYSE, a platform that integrates new information and trade-execution choices into the Exchange's agency-auction market. These new products include:

"Virtual NYSE," a new, live 3-D representation of the NYSE market that will enable investors to navigate the NYSE trading floor to the point of sale for any particular stock. Through state-of-the-art 3-D and animation technology, investors will be able to tap into NYSE databases to obtain the latest information on the market for any stock; and

"Look at the Book," a real-time replication of the NYSE's electronic limit-order book, which will provide investors with important supply-and-demand information about NYSE-listed stocks.

"Real-time data will be the standard for all products on nyse.com," said NYSE Chairman and CEO Richard A. Grasso. "The combination of the Internet and our advanced technology will bring investors right to the point of sale, enabling them to follow trading on the Exchange as never before," said NYSE Chairman and CEO Richard A. Grasso.

Other components of Network NYSE include:

NYSeDirect+ TM, a product that will provide investors with rapid, automatic execution of orders of 1,099 shares or less; Institutional XPress TM, a service that will provide institutional investors with systemic delivery of information, anonymity for routing orders and improved trade-execution capability; and "e-Broker," a product that enables institutional investors to combine high-speed electronic access to the NYSE point of sale with the benefits of a floor broker's trade-execution skills.
