Bronx Bombers And The New York Mercantile Exchange Hitting Home Runs For Charity

Date 19/07/2000

The World Champion New York Yankees and the New York Mercantile Exchange Charitable Foundation have teamed up to support several area charities through donations for each home run hit at Yankee Stadium during the 2000 season. The Yankees will hold a ceremony on Wednesday, July 19th, prior to the 7:05 p.m. game versus the Detroit Tigers to recognize the program that began in April.

The Mercantile Exchange is contributing $100 per home run hit by the Yankees at home this season with the proceeds going to the following charities: The New York Yankees Foundation, The ALS Association, Make A Wish, Cap Cure, Prevent Child Abuse America, and Children's Health Fund. Each of the charities has been designated a month of the 2000 season by the Exchange in which they will be the sole recipients of the contributions.

Fans also have the opportunity to pledge any dollar amount per home run this season to any one of the designated charities. As a bonus, any fan who matches the Mercantile Exchange contribution of $100 per home run throughout the season will participate in a ceremony on the field at Yankee Stadium prior to the final regular season home game with the Yankees' top home run hitters for the 2000 season.
