Thai Bourse Supports SMEs To Build Growth In Capital Market

Date 25/07/2012

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), together with the Thai Capital Market Centre, the Market for Alternative Investment (mai), and Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP), launch the “SET Company Visit for Inspiration” program to help small-and medium-sized companies (SMEs) joining the Thai capital market, leading to further upgrades and boosting their competitiveness at the international level.

SET Executive Vice President and mai President, Chanitr Charnchainarong, said; “We recognize the importance of supporting and enhancing SME potential for sustained growth, including making them ready to raise funds via the capital market for their continued success. Thus, SET and OSMEP jointly support the building of knowledge and inspiration for SMEs to conduct business successfully. Event participants include SMEs having business management standards, those who have won OSMEP’s SME National Awards, and as well as SMEs which are ready to raise funds through Thai bourse.”

OSMEP Acting Director General, Chawan Svasti-Xuto, said; “One of our major roles is to support SMEs to grow strongly and sustainably, and to be the country’s economic driver. So far, SMEs face difficulties in reaching sources of funds, obtaining service from the public sector, and marketing, which have affected their competitiveness. Therefore, we plan that SME owners joining the event will increase their knowledge of and expertise in financial administration, as shared by financial experts, and benefit from visiting growing businesses. The sharing of ideas and insights should build inspiration to develop their businesses for growth.”

The event includes the seminar “How to manage finance…make profit for business growth” and visit mai-listed Lighting & Equipment pcl (L&E), which is the country’s total lighting solution provider operating with social and environmental responsibility under good corporate governance.
