On November 14, the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) hosted its inaugural Future Industry Salon with the theme "Artificial Intelligence, The Future is Happening." This event focused on the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) within the future information industry and brought together over 40 representatives, including those from companies listed on the SSE STAR Market, prospective listed enterprises, and venture capital institutions, along with securities analysts, and university experts, to discuss industry development and technological hot topics.
Future industries signify the orientation of both technological advancement and industrial development. AI has emerged as the core driving force behind a new wave of industrial revolution. Since its launch, the SSE STAR Market has supported the listing of a total of 115 integrated circuit companies and 49 software companies. The total market value of A-shares from related companies is approximately RMB 3.19 trillion, representing 46% of the SSE STAR Market's overall market value. A number of these companies span the upstream and downstream segments of the AI industry, including areas such as computing power, large (foundation) models, and applications. Experts at the meeting highlighted that large models serve as the "development engine" of the AI industry, offering extensive application potential. Nonetheless, these models also encounter the challenge of "difficult implementation" in terms of commercialization, necessitating breakthroughs in several technical areas.
Enterprise representatives noted that the "patient capital" exemplified by industrial funds and state-owned shareholders has been instrumental during the initial phases of their development. They were keen to secure support from the capital market as their enterprises reach suitable stages of growth. The SSE provided a comprehensive briefing on the systems within the capital market that support the growth of new industries, business formats, and technologies, as well as the latest mergers and acquisitions and restructuring policies of interest to attendees. They addressed inquiries meticulously and attentively received feedback and suggestions from the participating companies.
Going forward, the SSE plans to continue hosting thematic salon events in phases, focusing on sectors related to future industries. This will foster continuous dialogue and interaction and bolster the expansion of new quality productive forces.
