NYSE Liffe Lists Equity Options On PostNL And TNT Express

Today NYSE Liffe, the Europe-based derivatives business of NYSE Euronext (NYX), added options on the shares of TNT Express and PostNL to its highly successful range of equity option classes. The launch of these options follows the demerger of the Express Business of TNT and the renaming of the Mail Business of TNT into PostNL N.V. on May 26th.  The options are available on the Amsterdam derivatives market of NYSE Liffe.

Alan van Griethuysen, Business Head Benelux and Asia of NYSE Liffe commented:
“We are glad to list options on the shares of these two leading Dutch companies; PostNL and TNT Express. With the listing of these options we are further expanding our equity option franchise on the central market.”

These American-style options will expire on the third Friday of the contract month and will have initial lifetimes of one to twelve months. Options on PostNL are available for trading under trading symbol PNL and options on TNT Express are introduced under trading symbol TNE.

Each option represents 100 shares in TNT Express or PostNL and will be cleared via LCH.Clearnet SA. Liquidity in the options will be supported by market makers 323 Trading B.V., IMC Trading B.V., Optra v.o.f. ,Scrocca Option Trading B.V., All Options International B.V., BNP Paribas Arbitrage SNC, Susquehanna International Group Limited enTimber Hill (Europe) AG. Trading will take place on LIFFE CONNECT.

In 2010, 175 million equity options were traded on NYSE Liffe. Almost 50% of this volume was traded on the Amsterdam market. NYSE Liffe lists stock options (also known as individual equity options) on over 250 leading European companies via the Amsterdam, Belgian, London and Paris central order books.

To mark today’s special occasion,  Harry Koorstra, CEO PostNL,  rang the gong which denotes the opening of NYSE Euronext's European market, together with Cees Vermaas, CEO NYSE Euronext Amsterdam.
