Trading in the KCBT wheat futures market saw a large increase when compared to volume traded during the month of May as 261,715 contracts were traded, a 20.2 percent increase.
Wheat options trading volume continues ahead of volume at this time in 2002. A total of 217,048 contracts have traded thus far in 2003, an increase of 7.1 percent, or 14,307 contracts compared to the same time frame last year. Total volume last year of 570,823 contracts was an all-time record and the KCBT is on track to set another record this year.
The Kansas City Board of Trade, chartered in 1876, is the world's largest futures market for hard red winter wheat.
