On the last day of the month the General Price Index was 82,40 points. It is worth to mention, however, that the highest level the index reached for the month was 85,55 points. On a sectoral level, sub-indices reached the following points: Banking sector, 104,50 Approval Investment companies sector 72,77, and Insurance companies sector 16,24 , Manufacturing sector 53,92, Tourism sector 54,98, Trading sector 23,27, Building Materials and Construction sector 65,18, Information Technology 2,83, Financial Services 9,12, Fish Culture 12,65, Hotels with 31,60, the Other Companies sector with 66,12, the FTSE/CySE 20 with 361,39 and finally the FTSE Med 100 6.565,34 points.

Market Capitalization

The total market capitalisation (shares) reached £2.324 billion from £2.413 billion the previous month registering a increase of 3,68%. According to this month results the Banking sector accounted for 51,34% of the total market capitalisation, the Other Companies sector with 12,47%, the Manufacturing sector with 9,37%, the Hotels sector with 6,4%, the Building and Materials and Construction sector with 7,52%, the Financial Services sector with 2,83%, the Trading sector with 5,65%, the Tourism sector with 1,64%. The Insurance sector with 1,34%, the Information Technology sector with 1,08%, and the Fish Culture sector with 0,35% respectively, of the total market capitalisation. Moreover the total market capitalisation including the Approved Investment Funds, the Warrants the Corporate and Government bonds reached £4.755 billion compared to £4.827 billion the previous month registering a increase of 1,49%.

Transactions

The total value of transactions during the month in review reached £13,43 million with an average of £746,17 thousands per trading session. The Banks Sector contributed 59,50% of the total value traded, which was the highest, whereas the Fish Culture Companies sector had the lowest contribution with 0,04%. Investors primarily focused their interest on the shares of «Bank of Cyprus Ltd» and «Cyprus Popular Bank Ltd» with 38,87% and 14,22% respectively.

Members and Listed Companies news

On the 6th of April the CSE Council announced than the company "Leda Investment Co Ltd" has renamed to "Leda Investment Public Company Ltd".

On the 8th of April 420,000 shares of nominal value of £0.20 of the company "A.L Prochoice Financial Services Ltd", which have been allocated to Mr. Costas Ioannidis as the last part of the consideration for the acquisition of 51% of the issued share capital of "S & K Ioannidis Brothers Ltd", carried out on October 8, 2001, started trading.

On the 14th of April 52-week Treasury Bills (29/3/2004 - 28/3/2005) of total value £15,000,000, which have resulted from an auction held on March 29, 2004, started trading. On the 14th of April the CSE Council announced that the company "Demetra Investment Company Ltd" has renamed to "Demetra Investment Public Ltd".

On the 16th of April the titles of the company "Demetra Investment Public Ltd" transferred from the "Authorized Investment Companies" sector to the "Special Trading Category" until the completion of the transfer procedure to the "Other companies" sector is made, as set by the CSE circulars 01/2004 to the Authorized Investment Companies and 02/2004 to the Companies with titles listed in the CSE.

On the 21st of April the CSE council after examining the disperse of the share capital of the listed company "CCC Laundries Ltd" following the Public Offer by "Cyprus Cement Company Ltd", the CSE Council in agreement with the SEC decided to delist the Company's titles from the CSE on Friday, April 23, 2004.

On the 26th of April the titles of "Global Consolidator Ltd" transferred from the "Information Technology" Sector to the "Special Trading Category" until the completion of the transfer procedure to the "Other companies" sector, pursuant to the CSE Circular 2/2004 to companies with titles listed in the CSE.

On the 28th of April 11.760.168 warrants of Cyprus Cement Company Ltd, started trading. The price and exercise period of warrants are as follows: (a) £0.30 per share for the period May 15-30, 2007 and November 15-30, 2007 (b) £0.35 per share for the period May 15-30, 2008 and November 15-30, 2008 (c) £0.40 per share for the period May 15-30, 2009 and November 15-30, 2009. On the 28th of April 13.669.401 warrants of “Alliance International Reinsurance Company Ltd”, started trading. The exercise price is £0.20 and the period of exercise is October 2004.
