Equities
To April trading in Equities on the Spanish stock market amounted to €328.73bn, similar to the figure for the same period in 2010. The trading volume in April totalled €81.74bn, down 18% from the same period a year earlier.
The number of trades to April was 16.5 million, up 28.7% year on year. The number of trades in April came in at 3.5 million, up 4.8% from the same month in 2010.
The trading volume posted by the ETF segment to April was 48% down on the same period in 2010, at €1.24bn. The trading volume in April in this segment was €162 million. In the first four months of the year the number of ETF trades totalled 16,485, down 32% year on year. The number of trades on the ETF segment in April came in at 2,548.
Futures and Options
In April trading on BME’s Derivatives Market, MEFF, came in at 3.64 million contracts. The trading volume in the first four months totalled 22.98 million contracts, up 8.4% year on year.
Highlights include the trading in Futures on Stocks, which in April came in at 1.55 million contracts, up 100% from the same month in 2010. The trading volume in this product to the end of April totalled 9.56 million contracts, up 94.5% year-on-year.
Warrants and Certificates
The volume of warrants admitted to trading between January and April was 2,165. The number of trades to April reached €570 million, up 23.5% from the same period in 2010. Trading volume in April on the warrants and certificates market came in at €99.8 million, down 16.7% from the same month last year.
The number of trades in the first four months of the year totalled 104,575, down 7.2% year on year. During April there were17,951 trades, down 37.5% on the same month in 2010.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading in April reached €344.38bn, up 68.7% year on year. The trading volume for the first four years totalled €2.17 trillion, up 179.6% on the same period last year.
New issues in April totalled 24,958, up 6.3% from the same month last year. In the first four months of the year the number of issues totalled €95.74bn, up 19.6% from the same period in 2010. The outstanding balance of Corporate Debt at the end of April was down 1.2% from the same period a year earlier.
The trading volume on BME’s Public Debt market in April came in at €7.17bn, down 57.2 % from the same period a year earlier. The figure for the first four months totalled €34.05bn, down 52.5% year-on-year.
