Total number of trading days in August 2010 amounted to 23 days with a total value traded of US$ 3,300.32 million (LE 18,831.98 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 3,032.18 million (LE 17,301.90 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 76.06%, 23.94% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 267.52 million (LE 1,526.48 million), which represents 8.11% of total value traded for the month. Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 0.63 million (LE 3.60 million) during the month.
This is in comparison to July 2010, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 3,227.28 million (LE 18,400.01 million), of which shares represented 66.72%, bonds 33.28% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 192.65 million (LE 1,098.39 million) i.e. 5.63% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading), which reached US$ 3,423.32 million (LE 19,517.70 million). Additionally, Nilex has recorded a trading value of US$ 3.38 million (LE 19.30 million) during the month.
Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 1,961.23 million securities. Meanwhile, the total volume traded of the OTC market has reached 106.96 million securities. Nilex has recorded a trading volume of 467 thousand securities.
During August 2010, 642,226 transactions were concluded with an average of 27,923 trades per day, as opposed to 707,740 transactions and an average of 35,387 trades per day in July 2010.

EGX 30 index, the official market index, witnessed a 1.45% increase in August 2010 to reach 6407.93 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 4.72%. Meanwhile, EGX 70 price index witnessed a 2.69% decrease in August 2010 to reach 589.94 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 23.12%.
Moreover, EGX 100 price index witnessed a 0.77% decrease in August 2010 to reach 987.60 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 18.65%.
Additionally, the Dow Jones EGX Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 1.77% increase in August, to close at 1380.37 points on 31/08/2010 and witnessed a YoY decrease of 1.48%. On the other hand, the S&P/EGX ESG index witnessed a 1.43% decrease in August, to close at 983.44 points and witnessed a YoY decrease of 1.36%.
