The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) today released the following statement by Ken Bentsen, executive vice president, public policy and advocacy after a meeting between Treasury Secretary Geithner and financial services and business trade associations.
"We thank Secretary Geithner for holding a substantive and constructive meeting to discuss regulatory reform. We shared with him our belief that responsible reform should be completed this year to bring certainty to the financial markets and America's economy. SIFMA has been a leading supporter of many of the regulatory proposals laid out by the Administration and the Congress--such as the creation of a systemic risk regulator and resolution authority to ensure failing institutions can be wound down without significant disruption to the markets and economy. We will continue to work with the Administration and the Congress to get reform completed, allowing financial institutions to continue their efforts to finance America's economic growth and job creation."
