The Executive Vice President of the SET, Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai, announced that, to support good corporate governance in both listed and member companies, the SET will subsidize the costs of training for the Directors Certification Program (DCP) for directors of listed and member companies, for 75% of the total fee or 37,500 baht per person. However, these subsidies will be limited to two persons per company. This will help generate greater comprehension of the roles, duties and responsibilities of directors, so that they can both implement and build up good corporate governance systems.
"The directors of companies are the key persons to promote and monitor the implementation of good corporate governance. Therefore, these subsidies, provided to those directors attending the DCP program of the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD), are regarded as helping lay an essential foundation for the creation of good corporate governance systems in the Thai capital markets. This year the IOD will hold eight classes for the DCP program, accommodating 240 attendees. Attendance will be on a first-come-first-served basis. For the remaining applicants, there will be additional classes held by the end of 2003," the SET Executive Vice President explained.
Furthermore the SET will announce a list of the directors who have already passed the program and received Certificates of Completion from the IOD on the SET website www.set.or.th in recognition for their matriculation from the program.
