Antonio Zoido to open the VII edition of this traditional business gathering
- The event will be attended by more than 200 institutional investors, intermediaries and analysts
- The Forum will feature a third session to accommodate the first gathering of companies and MAB investors
Over 80 Small and Medium Capitalisation companies listed on the Spanish stock exchange and more than 200 institutional investors, intermediaries and analysts will participate in the seventh MedCap Forum of Small and Medium Capitalisation companies, which BME will host from 31 May to June 2nd in Madrid.
Antonio Zoido, Chairman of BME, will welcome participants during the opening session of the Forum at the Bolsa de Madrid, and will be accompanied by Alfredo Bonet, State Secretary for Foreign Trade. Following the opening, José María Fernández Sousa, Chairman of Zeltia, Antón Pradera, Chairman of CIE Automotive and José Miguel García, CEO of Jazztel, will speak at the first issuers’ roundtable, entitled “the challenges facing Spanish companies after the crisis”. Juan Carlos Ureta, Chairman of Renta 4 and IEAF, will act as moderator.
The programme combines roundtables on such different sectors and topical issues as: “how small caps contribute value to portfolios, is still internationalization the growth driver of Spanish companies? and how the financial services sector confronts the new scenario, among others.
Also during the first session we will have first-hand information from a internationally-renowned group of managers about their investment outlook in small and medium capitalization companies. Legg Mason, Franklin Templeton, Bestinver and Cataluña Caixa will reveal their secrets to increasing the return of portfolios made up of these stocks.
This year the Forum will feature a third session to incorporate, for the first time, smaller companies listed on the Mercado Alternativo Bursátil (MAB)’s segment for Growth Companies. June 2nd will be devoted to the first gathering of companies and MAB investors, entitled “financing and investment opportunities”, featuring two roundtables: “recurring financing of SMEs in capital markets: capital increases and Debt issues” and “alternative management in markets for growth companies: a different investment”.
This gathering is part of a broader initiative by BME to boost the liquidity of these companies and facilitate their access to financing by increasing transparency and improving relations with the markets. The main goal of the MEDCAP Forum is to have the chance, every year, of letting the main medium and small capitalisation companies in the Spanish market present and discuss their strategies with analysts and investors from Spain and the rest of Europe.
