NYSE Liffe Launches Equity Options On Brunel

Today trading in options on the shares of Brunel International N.V. (ticker symbol: BI) started on NYSE Liffe, the Europe-based derivatives business of NYSE Euronext (NYX). The new listed options will enhance the shares’ appeal to investors that wish to hedge their share positions and want to benefit from price fluctuations. The Brunel options were introduced on the Amsterdam market of NYSE Liffe.

Alan van Griethuysen, Business Head Benelux and Asia of NYSE Liffe commented:
“By introducing the options on Brunel shares we enhance the number of AMX-Index® companies   with equity options. Brunel has taken its rightful place among the group of successful midcap classes”.   

The American-style options will expire on the third Friday of the contract month and will have initial lifetimes of one to nine months. Each option will represent 100 shares in Brunel and will be cleared via LCH.Clearnet SA. Liquidity in the options will be supported by market
makers All Options International B.V. and Scrocca Option Trading B.V. Trading will take place on LIFFE CONNECT.

On the occasion of the introduction of the Brunel options, CEO Jan Arie van Barneveld, joined by executives of Brunel and NYSE Euronext sounded the opening gong at NYSE Euronext Amsterdam, which marks the opening of trading.

NYSE Liffe lists stock options (also known as individual equity options) on over 250 leading European companies via the Amsterdam, Brussels, London and Paris central order books. In 2010, 175 million equity options were traded on NYSE Liffe. Almost 50% of this volume was traded on the Amsterdam market.
