On October 19th, NYSE Liffe Chairman Hugh Freedberg, CEO Garry Jones, Executive Director of Global Business Development Fraser Cowie, and Head of Greater China Business Development Cecilia Zhong paid a visit to the Dalian Commodity Exchange. Vice President of the DCE Li Jun accompanied the guests on a tour of the new Futures Tower, and President Liu Xingqiang later joined them for discussions.
During the discussions, the representatives from Liffe fully affirmed the DCE's market development achievements over the last few years, and they also offered their congratulations and admiration for the DCE's new Futures Tower office. Mr. Jones remarked, "The DCE is a large-scale, comprehensive exchange with standardized operations and global influence that has attracted the attention of the world's financial markets." He also highlighted NYSE Liffe's recent achievements in research & development and product design, including the construction of a new data center the size of four football pitches, the completion of a trial run of its new trading platform entitled "Unified Transaction Platform" (UTP), the design of new SDP real-time data dissemination software, as well as a new vision and development plan for authoring settlement prices.
Mr. Jones said that NYSE Liffe has certain resources and advantages in terms of technology and product offerings, and he invited the DCE to send a delegation to visit any of the group's relevant businesses. He hopes to strengthen cooperation with the DCE, learn from each other's strong points and promote the common development of the two exchanges.
DCE President Liu Xingqiang said that since the signing of a memorandum of understanding with NYSE Euronext, Liffe's parent company, in November 2008, both sides have had frequent contact and close cooperation. Up to now, the DCE has successfully held nine visits by Liffe representatives, and DCE representatives have visited Liffe on three occasions. Overall, In terms of personnel exchange and training, information sharing, product development, technology and other forms of cooperation, Liffe has become one of the DCE's most important cooperating partners. Mr. Liu also accepted Mr. Jones' invitation for the DCE to organize its staff to visit Liffe and enhance learning and communication between the two exchanges, as well as to deepen technological and product cooperation.
