NYSE Announces First-Quarter 2002 Financial Results

The New York Stock Exchange reported revenues of $210.7 million in the first quarter of 2002, compared with $212.9 million in the first quarter of 2001. Net income was $15.1 million, compared with $21.8 million in the year-ago quarter.

Pre-tax income for first-quarter 2002 was reported at $25.2 million, compared with $36.0 million during the same period in 2001.

Average daily trading volume in the first quarter of 2002 was more than 1.3 billion shares, compared with 1.2 billion shares in the comparable period of 2001. In the first quarter of 2002, 30 companies joined the list of NYSE-listed stocks, compared with 15 in the year-ago period.
