Starting today, MEFF will allow members to register "Flexible contracts”, i.e., non-standard futures and options contracts for all underlyings currently listed on MEFF, whether they are on the IBEX 35® or on any listed equities.
The new contracts will allow, in the case of futures, the selection of any expiry date and in the case of options, the selection of any expiry date and any strike price. In addition, for European-style equity options, the type of settlement - delivery or cash-settlement – may also be chosen.
The service does not permit order entry, something which occurs for contracts with standard expiry dates and price. This new service is aimed mainly at professionals who operate in the market, who have already entered into agreements and bilateral contracts before requesting registry in MEFF’s Central Counterparty.
The start-up of this new service was made possible by the entering into effect of the new MEFF regulation which allow it to expand the scope of its registry and Central Counterparty services to include new underlyings and new OTC products.
