Yesterday evening, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) presented the Excellence Award with which it rewards excellent academic theses in the field of energy and commodity trading for the sixth time. The award was presented in the framework of the EEX autumn reception in Brussels.
This year, EEX presented the Excellence Award for six scientific papers. The papers covered a big variety of in the areas of agricultural, emissions, power spot and futures markets.
“With the Excellence Award we support young people in developing creative and well-founded solutions for energy and commodity trading in the future. I am particularly pleased that, this year, we were able to present the award for a thesis in the field of the agricultural markets for the first time”, explains Iris Weidinger, Chief Financial Officer of EEX and board member in charge of human resources.
The award was presented to Assab Abderrahim (master’s thesis at the Imperial College London), Sven Böhme (master’s thesis at TU Dresden), Annika Klettke (master’s thesis at RWTH Aachen), Yu Yau Hing (master’s thesis at Centre International de Formation Européenne (CIFE)), Micha Kahlen (doctoral thesis at the Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus University) and Dennis Bergmann (doctoral thesis at the Cork Institute of Technology).
EEX was pleased to welcome Ando Leppiman, Deputy State Secretary for Energy at the Estonian Presidency of the European Council, as guest speaker.
