EEX Opens Office In London

Last Friday the European Energy Exchange (EEX) opened its offices in the London banking and business district Canary Wharf. The new EEX employees work at the premises of Eurex/Deutsche Börse in One Canada Square.

This presence in London supports the EEX measures for the further development of trading for power, natural gas, emission allowances and coal and for the field of clearing. In addition to this, EEX will reinforce its efforts to increase the visibility of its prices and products on all important trading screens and further expand the connectivity of the exchange markets. The tasks of the new members of staff in London will comprise supporting the EEX customers on site, informing the market participants about the products and services of the exchange and winning new participants and groups of participants for trading on the energy markets of EEX.

On 1 July Louis Hems, Joanna McMaster and Kahn Kennedy-Smith joined the EEX Customer Relations Team. Louis Hems heads the Gas & Coal Department, in which Joanna McMaster also works. Kahn Kennedy-Smith will assume responsibility for supporting the independent system vendors facilitating the trading participants‘ technical connection to the exchange systems. Moreover, Jason LaBrooy will join the EEX teamin the field of OTC clearing in August.

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) develops, operates and connects secure, liquid and transparent markets. EEX holds 50 percent of the shares in EPEX Spot SE,which operates the Spot Market for Power for Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland. The German and French Derivatives Market for Power is concentrated within EEX Power Derivatives GmbH, a majority-owned subsidiary of EEX with registered offices in Leipzig. Furthermore, EEX offers spot and derivatives trading in natural gas and CO2 emission allowances as well as trading in financial coal futures. EEX Group also includes European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC), the central clearing house for energy and related products in Europe.
