Trading volume at the DCE in May reached a total of 50,575,226 contracts, which was a decrease of 24.57% compared to the same month last year and an increase of 8.48% compared to last month. Trading turnover in March reached CNY 2.2347 trillion, which was a decrease of 33.96% compared to the same month last year and a decrease of 1.93% compared to last month. The DCE's trading volume and turnover accounted for 18.55% and 8.14% of the national total respectively. Total trading volume for the first five months of the year reached 251.7 million contracts and total trading turnover amounted to CNY 12.3974 trillion. Trading volume for the first five months of the year was down 5.34% compared to the same period last year, while turnover was up 7.16%. Open interest at the end of the month totaled 3,104,380 contracts, a decrease of 5.17% compared to April.
The latest statistics from the China Futures Industry Association show that total nationwide trading volume for the first five months of this year amounted to 1.134 billion contracts and trading turnover reached CNY 92.3427 trillion, which were increases of 67.75% and 141.33% respectively over the same period last year. Total nationwide trading volume for May reached 272,612,132 contracts worth CNY 27.4639 trillion. Nationwide futures trading volume and turnover in May increased by 97.92% and 193.07% respectively over the same month last year, while volume and turnover increased by 27.52% and 79.09% respectively over April.
