The Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) has announced the appointment of Barbara A. Richards as executive vice president of Market Development. In this new position, Richards is responsible for marketing, communications, new product development and strategic planning. She reports to Bob Forney, CHX president and CEO.

“Barbara brings with her extensive experience in the financial industry and wide exposure to many areas, including international and derivatives markets,” said Forney. “I’m confident that her background and record of achievement will add to our continued success.”

Before joining the CHX, Richards served for three years as partner and senior vice president of marketing at Lind-Waldock & Co., the largest discount futures brokerage firm. Immediately prior to that, she was executive vice president and head of the marketing division at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). Richards was with the CME for more than 15 years.

“The Chicago Stock Exchange re-made itself by becoming technology-driven and customer-centric. Today, with the benefit of both a strong membership and solid leadership, it’s growing rapidly,” said Richards. “It’s a great time to be associated with this organization, and I’m pleased to have the opportunity to work with the members and staff to extend the success the Exchange is now experiencing.”
