Date 17/07/2018

The Shariah Investing Fair 2018, organised by Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or “the Exchange”), is being held for the second time following its successful debut in 2017. The public event will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 21 – 22 July 2018, and aims to enhance financial literacy and inculcate an investing culture among Malaysians, in line with the Exchange’s focus on creating opportunities and growing value.

Themed ‘Jom Labur BM-i’, this year’s Shariah Investing Fair intends to reach a wider audience with a more inclusive programme to showcase the diverse investing opportunities available to all retail investors through Bursa Malaysia-i or BM-i, the world’s first end-to-end Shariah-compliant investing platform with a comprehensive range of exchange-related facilities including listing, trading, clearing, settlement and depository services. This platform also enables retail investors to have access to all Shariah-compliant capital market investment products.

Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan said, “This second edition of the Shariah Investing Fair entails a more comprehensive exhibition and investor engagement programme, to expand our reach to both new and seasoned investors, from all backgrounds. New investors will be able to gain exposure to investment products, services, information and tools to begin their investment journey.”

“At the same time, seasoned and more discerning investors may take this opportunity to explore the myriad of Shariah-compliant products and services which promote Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and therefore, appeal to those with an increasing interest in sustainable and responsible investing,” he added.

The event will feature 36 exhibition booths and participation from various industry players including brokers, fund management companies, financial institutions, insurance and Takaful operators, government agencies and public-listed companies.

Visitors will enjoy access to various investment and finance-related services, including opening of Central Depository System (CDS) and trading accounts. Visitors who opt to begin their investing journey at the Shariah Investing Fair 2018 will enjoy a fee waiver when they sign-up for a CDS account with any of the participating brokers over the duration of the event.

Visitors may also sign up for investment, banking and insurance or Takaful products and facilities, check their personal credit history, and obtain advisory services for capital market related matters from Bursa Malaysia’s various industry partners at the event.

The Shariah Investing Fair 2018 will feature insightful investment talks by prominent industry speakers including Tuan Haji Mohd Asri Ahmad, Encik Suzardi Maulan (Pak Di), Dr Zaharuddin Abdul Rahman and Dato’ Dr Nazri Khan. Other speakers who will be at the event include international industry speakers from Singapore and Thailand.
