Börse Berlin starts the first quarter of 2011 with gains in turnover and trades in both market places. In Xontro trading turnover rises by 21 per cent, the Equiduct market jumps by 141 per cent.
Börse Berlin announces a satisfactory result for the first quarter 2011. In Xontro-trading turnover reaches 2.3 billion Euro, thus increasing by 21 per cent compared to the fourth quarter of 2010. The number of trades rises by 19 per cent up to a total of 72,053.
Investors stayed focused on equities, which were responsible for 70 per cent of all trades in Berlin´s Xontro market. In January and February market participants showed no special preferences. In the wake of the atomic crisis in Japan, however, companies working in the field of alternative energy raised more interest from private investors. Almost unchanged was the proportion of trades regarding bonds (16 per cent) and funds (almost 14 per cent).
The fully electronic market place Equiduct achieves a turnover of 8.3 billion Euro. This is an impressive rise of 141 per cent compared to the fourth quarter of 2010. The number of trades goes up 78 per cent and reaches 1.65 million trades in total. With this result Equiduct continues its upswing. Europe-wide the trading place already achieves a notable market share on some of the most liquid stocks.
